HELP THE WORLD START-UP

Facebook co-founder Chris Hughes (pictured above on the cover of US Fast Company magazine), and the creator of MyBarackObama (the campaign apparatus that got Obama elected), is launching a non-profit start-up to help people find ways to help the world.

Jumo.com will match people based on their skills and interests with organisations around the world that need their input. The site will go fully live this autumn, and in the meantime visitors to Jumo.com will currently find a list of questions designed to match them with opportunities, and the site will offer profiles and ways for members to interact with each other.

The Jumo team includes Kristen Titus, a non-profit expert, the Obama campaign’s former designer Scott Thomas, and advisors such as Jeffrey David Sachs, the Director of the Earth Institute at Columbia University, Jacqueline Novogratz, CEO of the non-profit Acumen Fund,  and Linda Rottenberg, CEO and co-founder of Endeavor, a non-profit that identifies and supports high-impact entrepreneurs in emerging markets.
