JOURNALIST ARRESTED OVER FACEBOOK PRIVACY REPORT

Australian tech journalist Ben Grubb was arrested after the Sydney Morning Herald published a piece he wrote about Facebook’s privacy controls. The piece, Security Experts Go to War: Wife Targeted, covered a presentation at an IT security conference where Facebook’s privacy issues were highlighted by live hacking into another security expert’s wife’s Facebook page, displaying photos she had locked behind a Friends Only privacy setting.
The Facebook user complained to police and Grubb was arrested. The Sydney Morning Herald’s publisher Fairfax defends Grubb’s piece as simply reporting on a presentation at a conference. Grubb has been released without charge, but the police have retained his iPad.
