Mismatched place settings, where no two plates or cups are the same, in different shapes, colours and sizes, is not as haphazard as it looks, but requires careful thought and coordination of colour and pattern to achieve an artistic touch. Start by mixing two different dinner and cutlery sets, add in coloured glasses, then get confident and collect different pieces from sales and vintage stores to open up the mix.
