TREND WATCH: FENDI BAGUETTE REVIVAL
Celebrating its 15th anniversary, the Fendi Baguette is enjoying a revival and is even being immortalised in a coffee table book, by Silvia Venturini Fendi, that illustrates the story behind this deceptively small handbag.
Designed to be carried under the arm, like the French loaf from which it takes its name, the Baguette became one of the most popular accessories of the decade since its launch in 1997, and has been produced in over 1000 versions.
Silvia Venturini Fendi represents the third generation of the Fendi dynasty. In 1994 she became head of the accessories division and created the Baguette, Spy, B Fendi, Peekaboo, and Silvana handbags. In the video interview, above, she talks about her relation with the Baguette and the book that celebrates it.
Gialla, Jeans, Paglia, Specchietti, Tucano, and Zucca are the six Vintage Baguette bags selected by Silvia Venturini Fendi to be re-edited for the 15th anniversary. The video, below, shows the details of the handmade workmanship that makes them unique and different from one another. Selected styles are on sale in Fendi stores, worldwide, and Colette in Paris is now selling a limited collection of 37 styles.
The Fendi Baguette book is on sale at Fendi stores and select book stores, worldwide, or buy online at www.amazon.com
