The effectiveness, value, and ability of advertising, particularly via mobile devices, on Google and  Facebook has been put under the microscope.

Just before the Facebook’s now infamous IPO, General Motors put the social media giant on the spot when they announced that advertising on the site did not work for them, and they were ending their $10 million campaign.

Now, Twitter is beginning to show signs of success in that people are actually using the ads to click through and make purchases. Andrew Dowell WSJ Corporate Bureau Chief reports on Digits.
